Hey, I'm on the internet

My name is Jaclyn Lansbery, and I currently live in Bloomington, Ind.

While I frequently post work from my own job (you can read more about that on my 'professional website' link below, next to Twitter symbol), this blog does not represent the company I work for in any way.

This blog otherwise includes the places I visit on the Internet, the articles I read and recommend, the issues I care about and anything else that catches my interest. Occasionally I will even write personal posts, though I'm not a fan of social-media over-sharing.

Enjoy, and feel free to ask me things without being creepy.

Who I Stalk

So this happened today.

It’s been an exhausting week, so I don’t feel much like narrating. If you’ve read Politco’s article about Jill Abramson as an "unpopular" boss at the New York Times and then read the subsequent remarks, you’ll understand these Tweets.

The other day I reblogged Ann Friedman’s clever comparison of the criticism Abramson received versus the criticism she’d receive if she were a man. I Tweeted the same link and I got the above reaction, in addition to dozens of retweets and favorited tweets from, mostly, women.

It was disconcerting. Sexism is much more imbedded into our culture than I thought.
